Job purpose

To manage all functions pertaining to receiving and tracking incoming freight for the company. Assumes additional responsibilities as determined by the Vice President of Operations.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Actively unload all incoming trucks utilizing stand up or sit down forklifts and/or pallet jack .
• Ensures accuracy of freight compared to receiving reports.
• Physically inspects product for weight, condition, temperature, and quality.
• Initiates electronic receiving by proper personnel.
• Approves all receiving upon completion.
• Segregates freight and breaks down pallets.
• Checks in certain designated products.
• Organizes and distributes freight to the pertinent area in an efficient and timely manner.
• Responsible for upkeep and organization of Receiving Warehouse and Outdoor Storage Yard
• Inspect the warehouse for safety issues and corrects any such discrepancies.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a current Alaska driver\'s license, and clean driving record.
• Minimum two years\' experience in a large warehouse environment, with substantial knowledge of warehouse practices.
• Journeyman level forklift experience required to safely unload freight in and outdoors using either a stand up or sit down forklift while using a mobile ramp.
• Demonstrates ability to skillfully use computer, computer programs, and databases.
• Strong math and reading comprehension skills.
• Proven ability to achieve results with minimal supervision or in a self-directed work environment.
• Must be detail oriented, organized and able to multi task and prioritize work. Good aptitude in working with numbers is helpful.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to safely and frequently lift and/or move up to 50-70 pounds.
• Job requires heavy physical activity including walking, bending, stooping, and squatting.
• Must be able to climb stairs.
• Must be able to safely use hands and arms in reaching and moving materials and products.
• Must be able to drive a forklift throughout the day.
• Must be able to work around dust and inclement weather conditions.

Working Relationship

Works closely with warehouse personnel, accounting, purchasing, and wholesale office staff. The successful candidate will have a positive, professional and safe attitude at all times.
