What You Will Be Doing
Under general direction, the Area Assistant Fire Management Officer (AFMO) leads the fire program at the Copper River Area level. This position ensures safe, effective fire prevention, fire preparedness, and fire suppression in accordance with Alaska statutes and the Alaska Interagency Wildland Fire Management Plan. This position serves as the Fire Management Officer in the FMO\'s absence.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
This position is being recruited for the Glennallen location: 110 Richardson Highway.
Must be able to command, think clearly, and act decisively during prolonged and/or during multiple incidents under stressful conditions when life and property are threatened.
The position requires a NIMMS ICS red card with an "arduous" physical fitness rating.
Expected to work up to sixteen hours per day for extended periods of time throughout the fire season.
