Job Description


Job Summary: Responsible for developing, facilitating, and overseeing the delivery of a broad range of educational and cultural programs designed to create strong and confident leaders in our youth. Payrate: $23.35 per hour | Hourly, Full Time | Schedule and Shift: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with Saturday and Sunday OFF. This schedule can vary dependent on student needs with the possibility of nights and weekends.| Weekly Earned Wage Access is an option for this position. | This position will cover all local schools around the Coalgate, Atoka, and Stringtown area. | The selected candidate is not required to live within said parameter. | Primary Tasks:

  • Act as a mentor/role model in teaching servant leadership skills and provide skill building education with an emphasis on empowering youth.
  • Facilitate activities designed to develop and promote leadership, cultural awareness, core values, teamwork, perseverance, communication skills and volunteering.
  • Support and advocate on behalf of youth that may be facing problems that need referral to other agencies/programs within and outside of the Choctaw Nation.
  • Screen all volunteer and educational opportunities for credibility and safety on behalf of the youth.
  • Facilitate productive monthly student led meetings, to ensure that students follow proper meeting protocol using Robert\xe2\x80\x99s Rules of order, and that a community action plan is created and implemented for each project.
  • Coordinate community service projects with: community/county coalitions, Service Organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Public Schools, Choctaw Nation Programs, and numerous other organizations, while maintaining a highly professional relationship with key personnel.
  • Document and maintain accurate volunteer projects and hours and provide timely statistical activity reports when requested.
  • Collaborate with other Choctaw Nation Education Programs to provide new member recruitment opportunities with school districts and other organizations.
  • Ensure that all program goals/objectives are met while continuously re-evaluating processes to maintain relevancy.
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Education, Skills, and Experience: MINIMUM
  • Associate\xe2\x80\x99s Degree or equivalent experience in Leadership Development, Education, Behavioral Sciences or similar field.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills; strong computer and technology skills; as well as the ability to relate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Prior experience in designing and administering educational curriculum.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Professional ethics and confidentiality related to working with minor students.
  • Exhibit a willingness to work a flexible work schedule as necessary. This will occasionally encompass evening and weekend hours.
TARGET
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree or equivalent experience in Leadership Development, Education, Behavioral Sciences or similar field.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; strong computer and technology skills; as well as the ability to relate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Five years of teaching experience with a valid teaching license.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and desire to be the motivating force that will help encourage students to develop leadership skills.
  • Professional ethics and confidentiality related to working with minor students. Exhibit a willingness to work a flexible work schedule as necessary. This will occasionally encompass evening and weekend hours.
