Job Description

This non-exempt job classification is responsible for working both in and around the garden center. Must have prior knowledge of operating a tractor & fork lift.

The functions listed in this job description are representative but not exhaustive of any one position within this job classification. Management may assign additional functions at its discretion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operating yard tractor: Includes loading both customer and company trucks and trailers.

Forklift Operation: Responsible for unloading all tractor-trailer and lift-trailer deliveries.

Pre-loading Deliveries: Responsible for pre-loading all daily outgoing deliveries.

Assembly: Includes assembling mower, handheld equipment, and snow equipment

Periodic Deliveries: Conducting occasional deliveries.

Loading customer purchases: Loading customer- purchased materials such as plants, bagged material, edging, etc.

Daily yard maintenance: Includes keeping mulch piles separate and pushed up

Back lane maintenance: Keeping the back lane clear of materials.

Stone bin maintenance: Clearing off stone bins.

Frequently stand, walk, or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; work in extremely cold and freezing climates for long periods of time; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
